Taiwan has extended its mandatory military service from four months to one year. President Tsai Ing-wen said the move was due to the ongoing tension between them and China.
Because China insists that Taiwan is still part of their country. The Taiwan President added that the military training that will be given to the cadets will be intense where they will get ideas from the US and some advance militaries.
It's because they admit that they don't have enough knowledge about fighting compared to China. He said that even though the decision was difficult, he was only doing the right thing to defend their country. He said the new rule will begin in 2024.
