The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has restored the 40 pre-pandemic routes of passenger jeeps in the National Capital Region. In the memorandum released by the LTFRB, they will reopen 42 passenger jeep routes in Metro Manila effective December 27.
LTFRB Technical Division Chief Joel Bolano said that this is a great help to the riders because they are used to it before experiencing the pandemic. Among the routes are San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal-Cubao Central Terminal, Novaliches-MRT North EDSA, Pasig-Quiapo, Southmall-Quiapo, Southmall-Lawton, Tandang Sora-TM Kalaw, and Cubao-Marikina.
Pasang Masda president Obet Martin, on the other hand, was happy with the said decision of the LTFRB so that some jeepney drivers can return to Pasang. At the same time, the LTFRB announced the opening of 4,433 slots for taxi drivers who want to register with transportation network companies (TNC) starting January 9, 2023.
