11 people died in the low pressure area in Surigao del Sur - Office of the Civil Defense
The Office of the Civil Defense reported that 11 people died due to the effects of the rains brought by the low pressure area (LPA) that was spotted east of Surigao del Sur.
According to OCD Joint Information Center head Diego Agustin Mariano, 263,906 individuals or 63,101 families in Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, Davao, and Bangsamoro are affected.
Among the affected population, more than 3,000 individuals or 815 families were displaced. Damage to infrastructure was also recorded, reaching more than P125 million, while damage to the agricultural sector reached P77.9 million.
Meanwhile, although there is little chance of becoming a typhoon, the LPA will bring moderate to heavy and heavy rains to parts of Sorsogon, Masbate, Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao Del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Norte.
Light to moderate and sometimes heavy rains will be experienced in Agusan del Sur, Davao region and Northern Mindanao, as well as the rest of Bicol and Visayas. The authorities also warn of possible flooding and landslides caused by the rain, especially in areas that are vulnerable to such disasters.
